Work to begin on new gaelscoil after 20-year campaign

AFTER 20 years waiting and too many false starts, ground is due to be broken on the purpose-built Tuam Gaelscoil within weeks.
An unforeseen legal problem regarding an access road set the project back at least a year after pupils and staff had hoped to be in the new building since last October.
However, principal Colm Breathnach is confident that the development is back on track and everyone is looking forward to watching the construction progress.
Planning permission is in place and a contractor already appointed for the two-storey development on a site at Vicars Choroland, close to the town centre.
Up to 100 construction workers are expected to be involved in the building of the school.
