Tuam firm helping to turn milk cartons into car parts

A TUAM company is transforming binned plastic milk cartons into pellets that eventually end up as a part for Nissan cars.
The recycling process is operating on a 24-hour basis at the WERS Plastics plant on the Weir Road in Tuam. And there is such a demand for the pellets that they have bought-in massive bales of cartons to boost their own supply from the WERS wheelie bin waste collection service.
The relationship between WERS and Mergon, which makes a range of plastic products, has developed over the past four years and has involved significant testing and refining of the product.
