New CF unit transforms lives of North Galway patients
TUAM patients and fundraisers who have played a vital role in the construction of a new Cystic Fibrosis unit in Mayo will join the celebrations on Friday to mark the unit’s official opening by the Taoiseach.
There are in the region of 50 families who have one or more members with CF in the Mayo and North Galway area attending the Mayo hospital.
The much needed specialised CF Respiratory Clinic in the grounds of Mayo General Hospital (MGH), Castlebar became operational last September.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny will cut the red ribbon on the facility this Friday afternoon at 4.30 pm.
The unit cost €1.3 million, of which €900,000 was fundraised by CF Ireland and CF West, the Mayo branch and by a variety of voluntary groups in the Tuam and North Galway areas.
