Extra commuter bus services sought as demand rises

A PRIVATE bus operator is seeking to include at least five extra departures to its bus services from Tuam and Headford to Galway due to a surge in demand.
Pat Burke of Burke’s Buses in Tuam has reported a significant upturn in passenger numbers last year and expects this to grow further in 2016.
Commuting times to the city would also be reduced by at least ten to 15 minutes, he stresses, if a long standing proposal to provide a dedicated bus lane on the N17 before Castlegar was acted upon.
Burke’s Buses, based in Claretuam, are now running 15 services a day from Tuam to Galway with more than 2,000 passenger journeys per day.
