Priest just had to jump into the ocean

TUAM priest Fr Shane Sullivan had no option but to jump into the waters of the Atlantic Ocean at Salthill on St Stephen’s Day — any last minute hesitation on his mind was drowned out by the shouts of his supporters counting him down.
“All I could hear was 'three...two...one’ and there simply was no turning back then. But luckily I didn’t get cold feet at the last minute anyway ... I was just cold all over,” laughed Fr Shane.
He says he was overwhelmed by the support that he got from members of the Diocesan Youth Council and from Tuam parishioners, other well wishers as well as many of his cousins who came in from Connemara to support him, “or just because they thought it was hilarious”.
