New season begins for Galway

AND so it begins. Just three days into the New Year, the inter-county Gaelic football season gets up and running in Connacht and while January competitions have no shortage of detractors nationwide and football at this time of year comes with all the usual health warnings in terms of assessing prospects, Sligo’s visit to Tuam will generate plenty of interest.
As has become tradition, the Yeats County provide the opposition for Galway in their FBD Connacht League opener and with Enniscrone and Tuam Stadium alternating venues in recent years they’ve followed a familiar trend: low key in terms of profile, high on experimentation.
