Connacht’s European adventure continues

WITH critical matches arriving thick and fast, Connacht will be keen to claim another European Challenge Cup Pool One success against Newcastle Falcons on Sunday (3pm kick off).
Having defeated the struggling English Premiership outfit at the Sportsground last Friday Connacht’s youngsters will be keen to continue their development in this competition. With Russian side Enisei-STM shocking Brive, Connacht remain in a healthy position at the top of the group standings.
Despite a lengthy injury list Connacht, prompted by out-half Jack Carty, were too crafty for Newcastle so Head Coach Pat Lam was satisfied.
“They reacted well so I’m very, very proud of the guys,” Lam said about how his team coped. “It has just been horrendous with the injuries, we lost Tiernan O’Halloran on the morning of the game. He was to be our captain. Matt Healy had never played full back at this level. We just said 'Matt go back there to help lead the guys’. He did a great job.
