Tuam mass will remember the gallipoli dead of august 1915

100 YEARS after they died in a foreign war, 45 North Galway men who died in the failed campaign at Gallipoli during World War I will be remembered at a memorial Mass in Tuam Cathedral on Saturday August 29 at 11 am.
The date is exactly 100 years and a day since since John French, Galway Road, Tuam was killed in an attack on what were thought to be deserted Turkish trenches on August 28, 1915.
He was a member of the 5th Battalion of the Connaught Rangers, as were Gabriel Costello, Michael Larkin (Barnaderg), John Lester (Abbeyknockmoy), Patrick Lyons, Michael McDonough, John Wynne (Ballyglunin).
