Lets have more lifesavers

PLACING defibrillators in public areas in town centres could be a simple way of helping to save lives.
That’s according to Tuam resident Robert (Robbie) Fahy who owes his life to one of the devices being close by when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed at his home.
Robert’s heart stopped beating for 90 seconds after he suddenly fell to the floor in his apartment in St Jarlath’s Court. And, only for the quick action of a friend and staff at the Cluid Housing development, there could have been a very different outcome.
Robbie says he owes his life to the quick response of Cluid manager Deirdre O’Donnell and staff who used the on-site defibrillator to restart his heart.
