Wasteful galway live to fight another day

CONTRASTING emotions of regret and relief for both counties at the end of last Sunday’s Connacht Minor Football Championship final at Dr Hyde Park, and in the final analysis a draw was probably the right result as neither Galway nor Sligo did anything close to enough to claim the Kilcoyne Cup.
Galway dominated possession for long spells of a disappointing decider but will look back on wasteful finishing and the concession of an extremely soft goal.
Sligo, on the other hand, faded to relinquish what seemed a match-winning position and were more than a tad fortunate to get another crack at it after failing to score for the closing 21 minutes.
Needless to say, major scope for improvement exists for both sides when they do it all over again in Friday evening’s replay at Tuam Stadium (throw-in 7 o’clock).
