Mother mary 88 sees son take county chair chain

WHEN the new Cathaoirleach of Galway Co Council, Cllr Peter Roche, was elected on Monday among those in the council chamber to see him get the mayoral chain were his wife Bridie and family including his 88-year-old mother Mary Roche.
The Abbeyknockmoy councillor acknowledged their presence and that of his sons Alan, Adrian and Mark, his three grandchildren, and an uncle and his wife who were there from the UK. But he said it was a time tinged with sadness too as their son Colin was no longer with them.
