Former mayor unveils chain of tuam in its new home

THERE were fears it would be lost or forgotten about, but the lasting legacy of Tuam’s former town council has been installed in a permanent home in the town library.
The chain of Tuam, which became redundant with the abolition of town councils following last year’s local elections, has gone on permanent public display this week.
The silver chain, which was donated to the town by a local man Michael Cahill, has the name of every chairperson and mayor who has worn it engraved on it
A glass case for the silverware has been donated by the Kelly family of Church View
