Judge clamps down on illegal parking with fines of 2450

ILLEGALLY parked motorists were fined a total of €2,450 at this week’s sitting of Tuam District Court following a spate of convictions in the town.
Judge Geoffrey Browne handed down fines of €350 in seven cases, all of which involved illegally parked vehicles on the Dublin Road, where double yellow lines are in place.
An eighth motorist succeeded in having the charges struck out when she argued that her car couldn’t have been in Tuam as she was working in Galway on the day in question, where her car was parked at the time of the alleged incident.
