Corofin tipped to dethrone allireland club football champions st vincents

WITH the Allianz League shutting down for three weeks, the eyes of the Gaelic football world will return to the cut and thrust of the AIB Club Championship when Corofin take on reigning champions St Vincent’s in what promises to be a compelling All-Ireland semi-final next Saturday afternoon at 2.00 o’clock.
O’Connor Park, Tullamore will be the venue with Armagh referee Pádraig Hughes in charge, while Derry’s Slaughtneil and Austin Stacks of Kerry collide in the second semi-final at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Sunday.
Ever since Crossmaglen Rangers fell to Omagh St Enda’s in early November, Corofin and St Vincent’s were the two most fancied teams to lift the Andy Merrigan Cup and a potential meeting eventually became a reality when St Vincent’s dispatched Rhode in the Leinster final and Corofin got the job done against Tír Chonaill Gaels in London.
