Concerns over lack of progress on tuams new gaelscoil building

QUESTIONS are to be put to the Minister for Education over the delay in starting construction on the first purpose built school for Tuam’s Gaelscoil Iarfhlatha.
The state of the art development was granted planning permission last year and was announced as part of the Department’s rapid build programme.
However, local TD Colm Keaveney says the school had been told they would be moved into their new building in the autumn, but he fears the lack of progress on construction makes this unlikely.
“I have written to the Minister for Education demanding to know when building on the new site will commence and will be demanding that she expedite it. The school has outgrown its current location and it is no longer suitable,” Deputy Keaveney told The Tuam Herald this week.
