Williamstown group to tour contaminated water plant

PLANS to provide a temporary solution to lift Williamstown’s ongoing boil water notice are to be outlined to members of the community this week, who will be given a tour of the infected treatment plant by officials from Irish Water.
Cryptosporidium was detected in the local water supply last October and a boil water notice has been in place since. Irish Water has said the long term solution to the issue is to source water from Lough Mask, but this could take up to two years.
A public meeting was held in the village last week which attracted a large turn out from the community who heard several members of Galway County Council commit to finding a quicker solution to the problem.
