Local drivers pay up to 15 cent more at pumps

MOTORISTS in the Tuam district are paying up to 14 cent more per litre for their petrol and 15 cent a litre higher for diesel compared to those in other parts of the country.
A survey of filling stations in the town early yesterday (Tuesday) showed four out of five were charging 135.9 cent for unleaded petrol, while diesel at one forecourt cost 129.9 cent. This is compared to the cheapest fuel recorded in Belturbet, Co Cavan where motorists are paying as low as 121.9 cent for unleaded. The cheapest diesel was on sale at a forecourt in Clondalkin, Co Dublin at 114.9 cent a litre.
Galway city is offering the cheapest unleaded at a petrol station in Woodquay where unleaded cost 129.9 cent per litre, the same price being paid in Ballindine, which has traditionally offered savings to motorists in the north of the county.
