Top brain injury doctor offers grogan family hope

A LEADING expert in neuro-rehabilitation has accepted Tuam man Shane Grogan for treatment at one of the UK’s main hospitals for brain injuries.
Shane, who is receiving rehabilitation care at Aras Mhuire since last April, has been assessed by Mr Derar Badwan, a consultant based in the West Midlands, who travelled to Tuam last month.
The 25-year-old sustained a severe brain injury in an assault in the town over two years ago and spent over a year and a half in hospital in Galway and Dublin before being transferred to Tuam. He has now been deemed a suitable candidate for a place at the acquired brain injury unit at Leamington Spa Hospital in Warwickshire.
