Group will fight any excavation plan at tuam babies home

A CALL for inquests to be carried out on the remains of babies and children who died at Tuam’s mother and baby home has been rejected by a group who are campaigning for a suitable memorial at the site in the town.
The terms of reference for a government inquiry into the controversy have yet to be published, but people living near the site and those whose relatives are believed to be buried there have said they will fight any attempt to exhume remains buried there. A solicitor representing some of the women who stayed at the home has called for the Attorney General to order inquests, claiming there is legal argument for the site to be excavated.
