Waiting lists for family homes as rental demand outstrips supply
By Jacqueline Hogge
DEMAND is outstripping supply in Tuam’s rental market according to a local auctioneer, who has described the lack of family homes in the town as the worst he’s ever seen.
Three-bedroom and four-bedroom detached homes in several of the town’s estates are being occupied within days of being put up for rent, with one house in College Green, which will not become vacant until the end of October, already booked by a new tenant.
The local property market has picked up in recent months, although prices in the region are only slowly registering the growth spurt that has been experienced in Galway city since the start of the year.
