Personalities and creativity reflected in exquisite tuam quilt exhibition

A QUILT hanging as part of an exhibition in Tuam’s Town Hall this week has travelled, albeit in different pieces, all around the world.
The 1,733 individual squares, of which no two are the same, were all meticulously sewn together by quilter Nora Brennan, who is one of the founding members of the group Ready, Thready, Sew in Tuam.
Nora, and her daughter Roisín, are avid quilters, having completed a course together about eight years ago. Nora laughs as she tells how she had no interest in quilting and was signed up to the course by Roisín, who has gone on to open a quilt shop, also in Tuam.
An impressive collection of exquisite, colourful handmade quilts form the exhibition, which is a combination of the work of the quilt group and people who attend sessions in The Quilt Shop.
