Cathedral clock men keep it in the family

Two men whose family connection with Tuam's Cathedral of the Assumption goes back to when it was built are at work on it this week.

Liam Kelly and Francis Stockwell are painting and re-gilding the the three faces of the cathedral clock.

Their great-great-grandfather, John Stockwell, came from Scotland in 1832 to work on the building of the new cathedral, one of the first to be built after Catholic Emancipation in 1829.
