Abbeyknockmoy will be a mini-Glastonbury supporting Clash of the Ash

IT’S one of the strongest sporting regions in the West: Abbeyknockmoy to Monivea and many smaller places close to those two picturesque, historic villages and within their catchment area for sport, cultural activities and social life.
In sport, it’s an area famous for great achievements in Gaelic Games, rugby, soccer, boxing, athletics and horse racing.
The G.A.A. is particularly strong. Five 'dual stars’ had the notable distinction of winning County Senior Championship medals in hurling (1988) and football (1992), and three members of that legendary hurling team, Michael Coleman, Jody Flaherty and Peter Fanning, were also champions in handball.
It’s also an area renowned for its love of music, singing and dancing. Music of all kinds — from traditional Irish music to showbands, to discos.
