Galway hurlers are back in winning form

THREE first-half goals in a splendid 12-minute spell laid the foundations for this vital Allianz National League victory at Pearse Stadium last Sunday.
It keeps Galway second in the NHL, Division 1A table and on course for a place in the semi-finals of the competition but a daunting trip to Ennis to play All-Ireland champions Clare awaits them next Sunday and that will, to put it mildly, be a real test for their young team.
The Premier County is now stranded at the foot of the table on two points and in dire trouble as they face a struggle to avoid relegation. Nevertheless, all is not lost and manager Eamon O’Shea has stressed that his main preoccupation at present is to build a team for the forthcoming Championship although he certainly would not be happy if his county goes down.
