Happy 40th Birthday, Tuam Community Games
Tuam U-13 Gaelic football team and Tuam soccer team represented Connacht at the same national finals. A boys basketball team from Tuam also competed at the county finals in 1975, winning the Tayto Perpetual Trophy in boys U-16s at the Galway County finals for four years. From then on, participation in Community Games increased in the Tuam Area with young competitors taking part in athletics, track, field and relays, marathons, swimming, Gaelic football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, camogie, hurling, choir, draughts, chess, table quizzes, art, model- making, rugby, rounders, cycling, judo, cross-country and mixed distance relays, hard-court tennis, gymnastics, pitch & putt, table tennis and projects. Appreciation is extended to the managers, coaches and trainers who managed teams for the above activities and travelled with the young competitors to the county, provincial and national finals.
