Good taste award for Foods of Athenry

LOCAL bakery Foods of Athenry scooped a gold medal at the Irish food awards held over the weekend. The family-run company won first prize for its gluten-free flapjack in the dietary-specific category. It was also awarded a silver medal for its luxury Christmas pudding. The awards, Blás na hÉireann, celebrate quality Irish produce and had the biggest number of entries ever this year. Siobhán Lawless, who runs the firm with her husband Paul, was delighted with the win. 'The Blas awards are great. They are very supportive. We sell to all Irish multiples and also sell to Tesco UK.
