Meeting for parents to address childcare funding and transition to primary school

PARENTS are being invited to attend the next Parents' Network Meeting in the Clayton Hotel, Briarhill, Galway on Tuesday, May 15 at 7.30 pm, hosted by Galway City & County Childcare Committee. Queries regarding children's transition from pre-school to primary school and childcare funding programmes will be among those addressed at the meeting. Teacher Lorraine Fitzpatrick will make a presentation on the transition from pre-school to primary school. Lorraine will outline the best ways to approach the change, so that both parents and children will be prepared for the move to their new educational environment.[private] Parents will also be able to avail of information about the range of government childcare funding schemes available at the moment, as well as funding available to Parent and Toddler Groups. An introduction to Choosing Childcare: A Parent's Guide, which is available on Galway City & County Childcare Committee's website www.galwaychildcare.com, will be given by Fionnuala Foley, Development Officer. Parents in search of childcare are advised to consider a number of issues, which are outlined in the Choosing Childcare resource produced by Galway City & County Childcare Committee. Fionnuala reassures parents that 'Galway City and County Childcare Committee welcomes all types of questions and queries from parents concerning all aspects of childcare. The topics to be discussed: â€ËœTransition to Primary School'; â€ËœChildcare Funding' and â€ËœChoosing Childcare' are all very relevant at the moment and this is the ideal opportunity for parents to get answers to these and other questions. The meeting also provides parents with the opportunity to meet and share experiences with each other.' All interested in attending the meeting should contact mail@galwaychildcare.com or 091 752039 to book a place.[/private]
