Letters to Santy — don't be greedy like Greedy McWeedy

Hello Boys and Girls,   BRRRRRRRR! it certainly is winter out there now. What with the wind and cold, lots of rain and even some frost we're getting a mixed bag of weather these days. I can't believe it's December 8 already. It used to be a big day all over Ireland because that was when Mammies would do their Christmas shopping. Towns would be full of people getting their turkeys and nice things and everybody had a good time. Speaking of good times, soon it will be time to get out pen and paper to write that all-important letter to you know who at the North Pole. I wonder if you can e-mail letters to Santy or do you still have to send them by post? I hope so, because I always like letters and you can be fairly sure they'll arrive. You don't want Santy scratching his head on Christmas night wondering why he never got a letter from you â€â€ do you? Now I don't have to remind you not to ask for too much because there are a lot of boys and girls expecting gifts this Christmas. Everyone has to get something, you know. Don't be like Greedy McWeedy. Greedy was the meanest girl in her school. She would come in every day with a big bag of sweets and share none. Her parents owned a shop so she always had loads but still there was never enough for her. Greedy would even take sweets from the smaller children and eat them up as fast as she could. Everybody was sick of her. She had to have all the toys and all the attention  and was a real pain. No one wanted to play with her. Of course, when it came to writing her letter to Santy one page wouldn't do her. She filled a whole copybook with things she wanted and sent it off to the North Pole. Well when the elves saw the list they were not happy. 'Some children are lucky to get one little present and here is Greedy McWeedy filling out a huge list once again,' said one. The elves were sick of her too as every year it was the same. So, last year, they told Santy they had a whole sack of toys especially for Greedy and he didn't have to bother opening it. Santy was happy about that as he was very busy. So when he got to Greedy's house he just put the sack down by the tree. Of course, there was no cake or milk left there for him, only an empty glass and a few crumbs on the plate. Greedy had scoffed the lot. Anyway, when she got up the next morning and saw the big sack Santy had left she was thrilled. But when she tore it open there was nothing inside but a pile of mucky turnips. But there's a nice end to the story. I heard that Greedy learned her lesson and this year she gathered up loads of toys to help the Operation Christmas Child appeal. People don't even call her Greedy any more and she now has lots of friends and makes sure all the little children are included in the games and get their fair share of treats. I hope none of you need to be taught such a lesson this year. I'm sure you don't. Bye for now, Uncle Jasper.   Funnies â€Â¢ What do you call a fly with no wings? â€â€ A walk. â€Â¢ What is a crocodile's favourite card game? â€â€ Snap
