Milltown Development Draw to help build a bright future
THE go-ahead Milltown GAA Club is celebrating 50 years in senior football and has plenty of reasons to look back with satisfaction on the achievements of its players during that half-century with club, county and colleges, both Secondary and Third Level. The club has never been one to rest on its laurels though, and with growing demands on its facilities to cater for several teams at adult and underage level, both male and female, their hard working committee are embarking on an ambitious fundraising venture. Recent development work at their ground has included new dressing-room and playing surface improvements including a new Astro-turf training area. All that work will be of great benefit to the young men and women of the parish from now on but it does, needless to say, cost a lot of money. To raise funds in the current economic situation is difficult so the committee are thinking big by offering extremely attractive prizes to those lucky enough to win. No fewer than ten people will go away with something to celebrate on the night of the forthcoming draw which will of course be supervised by independent referees. The draw is limited to 2,000 tickets and at €50 each they represent great value for money considering the prizes on offer. As if the lure of winning a beautiful brand new Skoda Octavia car is not enough, the second prize of a free holiday in Las Vegas worth €1,500 or a Samsung HD television worth €1,000 for third place are real attractions in themselves. As winter approaches, the fourth prize of 500 litres of home heating oil would be a welcome gift as would a pair of Hogan Stand tickets for next year's All-Ireland Football final coupled with Bed and Breakfast in the luxurious Croke Park Hotel. Generous €200 vouchers for each of Milltown's well known restaurants Sheridan's and Finn's and others for Ryan's Londis Supermarket, Milltown and Caulfield Engineering, Galway complete the list. Tickets are available from treasurer Padraic Kirrane (086 2743680), Club chairman Jarlath Connolly, secretary Tom McManus, any Committee member or at Milltown Community Centre (093 51876). â€â€ N.C.
