Voting begins for Tuam online drama in competition final
By SIOBHÃÂN HOLLIMAN THE crew behind the online drama that has been filmed in Tuam in recent months is hoping it will continue its lucky streak and take the top award in RTÉ's Storyland competition.[private] Lucky Run made it through each stage of the competition and this has now culminated in the final. The final episode, which was filmed around Tuam two weeks ago, is now available to view on the website and members of the public can cast their vote for the drama they want to be the winner. The fast-paced adventure set in the town is one of the three dramas competing for the overall title. Producer Eamon de Staic says everyone involved in Lucky Run is thrilled at making it to the final. 'We're absolutely thrilled to get to the final and to be given the opportunity to make the final episode and complete the story,' he remarked. The Lucky Run crew are full of praise for the people of Tuam and are grateful for the huge amount of support and assistance they have received since they began filming earlier this year. 'Tuam has been great to us and I really hope to work here again on another venture. We were taken aback by how many people were so willing to help us out and of course we've had an overwhelming amount of support in the online vote,' added Eamon. The final episode explains all the twists and turns of the Lucky Run ride and will see some characters getting a long overdue comeuppance. The Tuam online drama is competing against Dublin-based drama The Last Security Man and The Outlaw Concy Ryan, which has been filmed in Limerick. The final episodes in the Storyland competition go online today (Wednesday) where the public can vote for the overall winner. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 1. 'There isn't a real prize at the end of it as such but to win would be fantastic. Previous winners have gone on to work with RTÉ and I suppose winning would certainly put our foot in the door of RTÉ. 'There's a great bank of talented people in the film sector in the West of Ireland and it would be wonderful if they got more of an opportunity to represent what the region has to offer,' reflected Eamon.
