Streetwise Dublin deny Galway

AS if any further reminders were needed, the closing stages of Sunday's National League Division 1 final showed yet again why Dublin remain the game's undisputed top dogs.

Galway most definitely put it up to Dublin and gained invaluable experience in the process, but the manner in which the Metropolitans flexed their muscles in the final 15 minutes was ominous for the chasing pack this summer.
Their roll call of absentees was a lengthy one. Cian O'Sullivan, Bernard Brogan and Jack McCaffrey all recuperating from long-term injuries. Paul Flynn, Paddy Andrews, Eoghan O'Gara and Diarmuid Connolly not involved. 2017 Footballer of the Year contender James McCarthy replaced shortly before half-time due to injury. Another key defender John Small off the field for half an hour during the second half.
Quite a list.
