Galway crave consistency

DESPITE a defeat to Meath that could most certainly be classed as 'avoidable’, the destiny of Galway’s footballers in Division 2 remains firmly in their own hands ahead of a testing run-in over the next three weekends.
It’s the most congested period of the season as high-octane ties arrive thick and fast on successive Sundays, starting with the visit of Derry to Tuam Stadium, for what amounts to an almost 'must-win’ match from Galway’s perspective if they’re to deliver top flight football for the first time since 2011.
A trip to Newry to meet an increasingly resurgent Down follows on March 26, before a final round showdown with Kildare on April 2 that looks set to be loaded with consequence for both counties.
