ABBEYKNOCKMOY’S hopes of progressing in the Galway Senior Hurling Championship disappeared rapidly last week as Kilnadeema-Leitrim snatched a draw in the dying moments before running out comfortable winners in extra-time.
A place in the preliminary quarter-finals looked assured for Brian Cooley and Gerry Farragher’s men when Eoin Blade put the North Galway side 1-19 to 2-12 ahead in injury-time, but Tony Molloy produced 1-1 from placed balls to force another 20 minutes of action.
And Kilnadeema-Leitrim completed their Lazarus-like recovery, hitting an unanswered scoring patch of 2-6 that included majors for substitutes Shane Lawless and Dylan Towolawi to break Abbeyknockmoy hearts.
