OVER the past number of years the County Senior Ladies Championship has been always a keenly fought competition with the final something of a classic.
This year, in perfect conditions on a perfectly prepared Corofin pitch, we watched two teams give their all and while the scoreline may suggest a comfortable win for the defending county and Connacht champions, the scoring of three goals in the space of nine minutes was the real difference between two very good teams.
Claregalway set out their intentions early with good points from the always impressive Ellie Glynn and Deirdre Brennan. With Kilkerrin-Clonberne struggling to get their game going in those early minutes, Claregalway were almost good for another score or two only to be denied by some excellent defending.
