Pj fahy is sweet on sugars greyhound derby prospects

GREYHOUND racing had to share the sporting spotlight with Gaelic football’s epic All-Ireland semi-final clashes and American Football’s Croke Park Classic last weekend.
But two veteran track dogs, one from Glenamaddy, North Galway and other from Ballymacelligott in North Kerry, almost stole the show!
The country’s leading greyhound racing writer, Michael Fortune, wrote in the Irish Independent on Monday: “Who says age is a great leveller? It certainly wasn’t the case at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night when those fantastic veteran trackers Tyrur Sugar Ray and Ballymac Vic set the famed venue alight with stunning performances in the quarter-finals of the Boylesports.com Irish Derby. Many were of the opinion that Tyrur Sugar Ray is long past his best but he blew that theory out of the water in the last of the heats, where he flew out of his favoured inside trap and turned the race into a procession as he came home seven lengths clear in a best-of-the-night 29.44, with Skywalker Farloe and Barefoot Agent chasing him home.”
