Book of Condolence for Tom Murphy

BOOKS of Condolence in respect of Tuam playwright Tom Murphy have opened in County Hall in Galway and in Tuam Library this afternoon (Friday).
The author of plays such as Whistle in the Dark and Bailegangaire died in Dublin on Tuesday night aged 83.
A Book of Condolence has been opened by the County Council in Tuam Library on High Street from 2-5pm. A Book is also open at County Hall on Prospect Hill in Galway until 4pm today.
The Book of Condolence will continue to be available in Tuam Library tomorrow Saturday between 10.30am-1.00pm and from 2.00-5.00pm and again on Monday in County Hall, Galway until 4pm.
Many tributes have been paid to Tom Murphy who was born in Tuam in 1935. President Michael D Higgins described his contribution to Irish theatre as “immeasurable and outstanding”.
His funeral takes place in Dublin this weekend. A large attendance is expected at a Humanist Service in celebration of Tom’s life taking place tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 11am in the Mansion House in Dublin which will be followed by a private cremation.
