Monivea pupils given the honour of turning sod on new school

CHILDREN in Monivea National School are looking forward to a brand new school after a special sod turning ceremony in the village last week.

Pupils and their teachers and parents, along with past principal Ann Cooke, were on hand to mark the start of construction on the new building, on the playing pitch beside the current school on a site secured by the Board of Management in 2007.
The 11 classroom school will serve a growing and vibrant school community, with pupils expected to be at their desks in the new building in March 2019.
