Minister says youth counselling service ‘won't be left in lurch’

YOUTH counselling services will continue in Tuam following a commitment given by the Minister for Mental Health Jim Daly during a visit to Galway this week.

Minister Daly met with members of Youth Work Ireland Galway to discuss the funding crisis which had left the service at risk of closure.
The youth organisation offers free counselling to people aged between 12 and 21 in Tuam, Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Galway city throughout the school year. Over 190 people have availed of the service over the past year alone, 154 of whom were in the 12-15 age range.
