Shane saw balloons fly on Saturday for the first time

FOR the first time since his injury, Shane Grogan was able to attend the launch of the balloons in the annual Care for Shane Balloon Race.

A big crowd turned up at the Palace Grounds on Saturday afternoon to see the balloons released.
Shane and his mother Joan released the first two special balloons, before hundreds of others soared into the sky.
The winning balloon flew as far as Lompret in Belgium, and others were picked up in Holland and France.
The longest distance flown was 980 km (613 miles) and the sponsor of the winning balloon was Rory McMorrough, Bearna.
Previous winning balloons went as far as Denmark in 2015 and Bristol in 2016.
Shane's father Joe Grogan thanked all the volunteers and all who bought balloons.
