Gardaí target speed and drink driving over Bank Holiday weekend

AN Garda Síochána are urging road users to be careful when driving over the August Bank Holiday weekend, and are set to roll out an Enforcement Campaign to combat potential road traffic offences.

The campaign will cover the whole of the Western Region, taking in Galway, Mayo, Clare and Roscommon-Longford.
Gardaí will be patrolling the road networks in these counties in both marked and unmarked vehicles, and will be carrying out mandatory breath testing if and when the need arises. Sections of roads where motorists have a tendency to exceed the speed limit will also be receiving heightened Garda presence.
