Take pressure off clogged city by supporting job creation in county

A SINGLE new job in East Galway has as much impact in the area as five or six in Galway city and up to 12 in Dublin, a member of Ballinasloe Municipal District Council told the body’s April meeting.
Cllr Dermot Connolly made his assertion during a discussion on the supports available from the Enterprise Unit at Galway Co Council. He said job creation started from a very low base in East Galway and because of this they would take what they could, when they could, as they had to continually strive to keep the focus on towns such as Ballinasloe.
He added that it was obvious that the IDA had not prioritised the town so it was vital to keep the pressure on or the area would be simply forgotten.
