Friends support wheelchair-bound Claregalway dad

THE busy world of dad-of-two Gerry Commins from Bawnmore, Claregalway changed forever when an accident, while working in a voluntary capacity for his local community, last March left him partially paralysed and confined to a wheelchair.
Now his friends are rallying around by organising a fund-raising event called Journey with Gerry to redesign his family home and enable him to cope with his new everyday living needs. In an effort to help defray the costs of an extension a fund-raising raffle will take place on Easter Sunday night April 16 at the Claregalway Hotel.
There will be music on the night and tickets are €10. Anyone who wishes to donate to the fund can do so at Athenry Credit Union and any cheques can be made payable to Journey with Gerry.
For further information or if you want to help with fund-raising or by giving a donation you can also contact any member of the organising committee: Sonny O’Brien, Jackie Burke, Mary Forde, Mary O’Brien, Tony Stephens, Sean Walsh or Kathleen Burke on 087 1616479.
