Tuam's last phone kiosk to go

THE proliferation of mobile phones has sounded the death knell for public phone boxes around the country.
The three phones in the Tuam kiosk at The Square, which is about to be removed, were only used on average once a day over a six-month period. The Tuam kiosk was monitored by eir and due to the low usage figures it will be removed on December 16.
The lack of use for public phone kiosks has resulted in their demise all over the country, with the exceptions being a few that are still in use in some busy city areas, also at airports and ferry ports.
