Crime victims vent fury at lack of garda resources in tuam area

OVER 100 people from the greater Tuam area attended a crime meeting in the town this week where people vented their frustration at the lack of adequate Garda resources in the area.
The meeting, facilitated by Fianna Fáil TD Colm Keaveney, was addressed by the party’s spokesperson on justice, Niall Collins TD.
Members of the public were invited to share their experiences, with reports of burglaries, anti-social behaviour, vandalism and dangerous driving recounted during the two-hour meeting.
Several people called for the law to be changed so that they had a legal right to protect their homes without repercussions, while others sought the introduction of the Irish Army on to the streets to address the lack of resources within the Gardaí to cope with rising crime.
