Dunmore student visits wwi grave in flanders

DUNMORE student Shane Flanagan was the only one from Galway on a historic trip to the killing fields of Flanders at the weekend to visit the grave of a Galway soldier from near Ahascragh who died and was laid to rest there in World War I.
Shane, a TY student at Dunmore Community School, had carried out a lot of research into the life and death of East Galway soldier James Lyle Hay. The Dunmore student was one of 32, one from each county in Ireland, to be selected for this unique trip where each boy or girl adopted a WWI soldier from his or her county.
