Sainthood calls for young headford priest

YOUNG Headford priest Fr Declan O’Toole, murdered in Uganda, could be on his way towards sainthood as the first steps for his beatification have been instigated here and in Africa.
Last Saturday was the 13th anniversary of the shooting of Fr Declan, a native of Claran, in Kotido diocese in Uganda where he was a missionary priest.
He died with two locals from the diocese, Patrick Longoli and Fidelis Longole, when their jeep was attacked by gunmen.
Now Bishop Giuseppe Philipi of Kotido diocese has written to the Vatican and started the process for the beatification.
