There's no place like home

HOW do you like your eggs: poached, boiled, scrambled — knitted? The country home kitchen has been given a somewhat topsy turvy treatment as part of an art exhibition that has become a big talking point over a cuppa.

Crumbly brown bread, tasty treats and assorted jars of colorful ingredients are among the kitchen familiars that young artist Lorna Gilmartin was inspired by to create her graduate year exhibition.
Over-sized aprons, wooden spoons dipped in knitted mixtures and sketched jars holding colorful embroidered ingredients are among the unusual yet very familiar items that are incorporated into the installation.
For the past number of weeks the art works have gathered much attention and continue to be the focus of many chats by those enjoying a cuppa or lunch in Tuam’s Leaf and Bean café.
