AFTER a topsy-turvy and enthralling first meeting between Connacht ladies football’s great rivals, it was always going to be difficult to replicate its excitement and unpredictability, but Galway won’t care a smidgen as they captured their seventh senior provincial title in an eight year span of supremacy.

Leaking three goals in the drawn game at MacHale Park was a serious cause of concern for Timmy Rabbitt and his Galway management team, but the Tribes flipped the script this time round by blasting home three of their own on Saturday evening in what amounted to a novel Connacht final held in Limerick.

Captain Tracey Leonard was at her brilliant best and sprinkled her stardust quality all over proceedings.
