FOR the second week running, Coláiste Bhaile Chláir suffered heartbreak as the Claregalway school came up just short in another All-Ireland ladies football final.
After suffering defeat in the Senior B final a week previous, Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, who are managed by Galway Senior stars Fabienne Cooney and Sarah Conneally, were looking to win back-to-back Junior titles, having captured the B grade All-Ireland crown in 2018.
But they came unstuck against an unbeaten St Catherine’s College who produced a brilliant performance to capture the Lidl All-Ireland PPS Junior A crown in a sunny Mohill on Saturday.
After the Armagh side raced into an early lead thanks to goals from Eva Lamb and Hannah Duffy, Coláiste Bhaile Chláir got back on level terms after the break, but it was the Ulster champions who pushed on with a strong finish to grind out the result in a tense low scoring second-half.
