Salthill reclaim Minor crown

Salthill-Knocknacarra 4-11
Claregalway 1-12

A FOUR-goal second half salvo inspired by captain Robert Walzer rounded off an impressive Salthill-Knocknacarra performance as they rubberstamped their victory and snatched the county minor title back from Claregalway’s clutches.
For the third time in as many years, this pairing squared off in the final as respective North and West Board winners. 2016 was the seasiders’ year, whereas 2017 saw Claregalway avenge that defeat and come away with the McHugh Cup which meant it was Salt hill-Knocknacarra who came into this final with revenge on their mind in a period where both clubs have dominated at minor level.
Prior to the game, Claregalway put a highly-fancied Northern Gaels team to the sword in the North final but it was difficult to gauge how they would fare against an impressive Salthill-Knocknacarra who themselves dispatched Barna in the West.
